Arden's Garden 2 Day Detox Review
I jump-started my workout and new diet by using an Arden's Garden 2 Day Detox. I did this because I saw so many of my Atlanta friends post pics of 2 Gallons online. Curious I looked into the Arden's Garden Detox and quickly learned it was sold in Atlanta Stores only. I was bummed but then saw an option to purchase online. I ordered and at the time they shipped out on Mondays and it arrived overnight and frozen and in several bottles. It was easier to ship that way than shipping 2 Gallons. If you're interested in purchasing in person you can locate one of the Arden's Garden retail stores or use Uber Eats. You can also purchase at Kroger and other grocery stores but call or check online before heading there to be sure it's in stock.

For two days I would only drink this grapefruit-flavored drink. I hate grapefruit but it was not a bad taste. It's definitely a cleanse so I did while I had downtime at home. I found myself hungry at night and did eat even though it said not to eat, I ate a few crackers and turkey. I finished the cleanse and was not hungry on the second day however the day I started back eating I ate a sandwich and it made me queasy. I had to force myself to eat as my appetite was gone. I think the best thing is to ease your way back to food with vegetables and fruit. I had energy during the cleanse I took insanity and weight training class during the cleanse. It is not recommended to work out like I did while detoxing or eat harsh food such as meat.
- Be sure to have plenty of Distilled water
- Purchase fresh fruits and veggies if you want a snack
- Don't eat heavy and bad before and after the detox as you may find yourself unable to stick to the detox or sick after.
- Don't do an intense workout during the detox.
- Do consult your Doctor or Nutritionist for health concerns and questions.
Arden's Garden Detox Before and After
At the end, I felt better and had more energy. I lost 3 lbs during cleanse and 3 additional the week following. It about 2 months later and I did not gain the weight back. However, this is due to my continuing to make better food choices and workout 4-5 times a week.
For the rest of the year, I continued to go to the gym trying different classes such as spin, insanity, hip hop classes, turbo kick, and fitness classes in the pool. I reverted back to the eating habits I learned in my boot camp and eliminated most of my stress. I cut out alcohol and bread. Since I no longer traveled for work I was not tired, stressed, and no longer had the $42 stipend per day to buy awesome unhealthy food. 🙂
I have learned a lot about myself during this weight loss journey. A lot of people ask me the secret but what you have to understand is everyone is different. It takes me longer to lose weight. I changed my eating habits but I still enjoy some Krispy Kreme donuts or Popeyes occasionally. It's about moderation and staying active.
Lifestyle Changes:
- I work out 4-5 days a week, 3 cardio, 2 strength (Including weekly yoga).
- I run/walk at least 1 5K race a year. Occasionally I've done the 10K Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta.
- I use myfitnesspal religiously and try to keep to 1400 calories a day. I once had like a 50+ day login streak
- I eat a lot of protein probably could use more
- I rarely drink sodas/juice
- I drink a bottle of water as soon as I wake up and 1 before and after each meal
- I cut back on alcohol and sometimes eliminate it because it dehydrates the body and causes it to work more to flush out the toxins versus your body working hard to burn fat.
- I eat 5-6 times a day to keep metabolism up
- My smoothies include kale, fruit, bananas, protein and Chia seeds, coconut water (better than a Powerade for replacing electrolytes)and flax-seed.
- I'll only eat egg whites but will bake with whole eggs as required.
- I detox whenever I plateau or had a nice week of eating bad aka vacation not to lose weight.
- Minimal fried food if any not a lot or I get sick
- I don't workout without my FitBit
- I'm still a work in progress.
- I incorporate the Arden's Garden Love Your Liver cleanse at least once a year and their shooters.
During the journey I have learned:
- WEIGHT LOSS PILLS or any kind of scheme is a quick fix but doesn't fix the root of the problem. Why take pills if you are just going to eat unhealthy during and after. Those pills teach you to eat whatever you want. Wrong! I don't believe in waist trainers either or any of those powders folks are pushing these days. I've been so burned by stuff I just want it to be all-natural weight loss!
- Don't detox just to lose weight, it should be to help you reset and start a new and healthier program. Always check with your Doctor before making drastic changes or trying detoxes.
- I have learned more about calorie counting such as 3500 calories=1 lb. I learned about the Basal Metabolic Rate, which is basically how many calories you burn to stay alive, you have to factor this into account with how many calories you need to eat a day and burn to lose weight. From these numbers, you can set up a plan that has you at 3500 calories excess per week for 1 lb a week weight loss.
- It's ok to rest. Your body needs rest and not just on the weekends. I'm talking about a week off here and there. I did two a days five days a week and didn't sleep much and my body crashed and I got sick. Don't let that happen.
- Find a good detox to jumpstart your new eating habits, use them occasionally to reset. 2 days is ok but don't do these for weight loss, they help with energy, stress, and provide mental clarity and allow you to refocus. I think if I hadn't done these throughout my journey I may have tapped out a while ago.
- Lifting weights burns fat. I used to be so caught up in cardio I forgot to use weights. Don't be afraid. If you need help in the gym ask a worker to show you or experienced member so that you are using the machines correctly and don't injure anything. I am glad I did because it has toned out a lot and helps me to not actually look my weight 🙂
- Reward yourself-After you have great success in the gym, reward yourself, maybe a new pair of pants to show off that new weight loss or a cupcake, not too many 🙂 or take a trip! 😀
- Don't be so hard on yourself- I've read it takes about 66 days to form a habit. Keep that in mind, that healthy eating and working out is not an overnight change but keep at it.
- IT REALLY IS ABOUT THE KITCHEN FIRST. Make improvements in your eating habits, it may be tough at first but you will get used to it and see immediate results even if it's just in your mood initially. All of those earlier pictures of me I worked out and was still big because I didn't have a good meal plan set up. It wasn't until 2013 that I changed and saw good results. You can always have cheat days here and there just don't turn it into a week or month. Trust me it's 80% diet 20% workout.
- Don't try crazy diets, create meal plans that become lifestyle changes and not fads.
Why did I choose to do an Arden's Garden 2 Day Detox?
My weight has fluctuated since 2010. In my earlier 20s, you could catch me in a size 0 or 2. I was so skinny I thought I could eat anything. I ate horribly from daily Starbucks to The Cookout and ate out all the time. I didn't count calories or weigh myself. The snacks at my desk were chips and candy. While talking with my coworker about my gains he suggested I try weight loss pills. I didn't do any research and tried different kinds for most of 2010 and 2011. I tried various forms, from Jillian Michaels, and GNC weight loss pills. I even tried a heated wrap session. I lost a ton of weight but starting in 2012 I started to see the reverse effects of those pills and blew up in what seemed like quickly.
At age 27, I received interesting news from the Doctor after a checkup visit. My cholesterol was elevated, and I had very low iron and vitamin D, so low that they had to give me a prescription for both. I was so sad after hearing this because I thought 27 is too young to have these issues. I begin to research what affects cholesterol and dairy was one of them and I was a repeat offender of eating lots of cheese for snacks. I started to realize in 2012 I was picking up a lot of weight and this can also affect cholesterol levels. I never weighed myself in 2012 but I can tell you I was probably a size 14 but in denial and still wearing too-small clothes.
I started to pay more attention to working out. I had let this slip as my job required a lot of travel and also provided a daily stipend for food so I ate out and ate well. I participated in health meetups with local meetup groups in Charlotte, I tried online challenges such as Mrshutupandtrain. I was working out, cut back on dairy and stopped drinking wine but I really did not see progress.
It wasn't until age 28 when I joined a boot camp under Mr. Health and Wellness in Charlotte that I learned a good balance of having an active lifestyle and good eating habits. I was challenged to eat 5 times a day, 3 300 calorie meals and 2 150 calorie snacks. I switched to egg whites, made my own smoothies, ate fish and chicken, more protein, oatmeal for breakfast and changed out my desks snacks from chips to almonds, cucumbers in the fridge for snacks. I was determined. I saw a lot of success in the program, getting down to a size 10 but then my job required me to be out of town every week. However, when the stress hit again, I gained weight. I should have kickstarted my new lifestyle with a detox.
I go hard in the gym and in the kitchen because I have experienced the highs and the lows. The Devil tried to take me out and I was on just going through the motions and life. My working out is me taking control again, I reclaimed my life and I am excited about my improved journey. The Arden's Garden 2 Day Detox gave me the push and motivation to change my habits.
